ABSTRACT

ORDER:

             As per rule 11 of the Prevention of Food Adulteration Rule Published in G.O.Ms.No.1752.Health.dated 18-02-61.the fees payable for samples of food analysed shall not be less than Rs.10 per sample provided that the Government Analyst may at his discretion charge a higher fee depending upon the work involved subject to a maximum of Rs.50/- per sample.This rule came into force with effect from 1-7-1961.

             2.The Analysis fees in the existing Rule 11 needs revision.In view of the amount of work and expenditure involved in the analysis of the sample as there has been multi-fold increase in the cost of chemicals,glassware and other Laboratory items required for analysis of food sample and the increase in the Establishment and other over-head charges.the Central(Government) Food Laboratory has revised the fees ofor analysis of food per sample from Rs.40/- to Rs.200/-with effect from 23-05-95.Again with effect from 20-11-98.the Central(Government) Food Laboratory has revised the fees for analysis of food per sample from Rs.200/- to Rs.1000/-.

             3) The Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine has proposed to enhance the Food Analysis fees as follows:-

(i)           The fees payable for sample of food articles analysed for the purpose of   Section12 of the Act shall be Rs.50/- for consumer organisation and Rs.100/-  per sample received from other consumers.

(ii)           The fees to be charged by the Public Analyst for samples of Food articles   received for analysis from private purchaser,Trader,Manufacturers and other State   and Central Government bodies and Public Sector undertakings etc.shall be   (minimum) Rs.300/- per sample to the maximum of Rs.500/- as decided by the Public   Analyst depending upon the work involved.

 4.The Government have carefully examined the proposal and decided to enhance the food analysis fees as follows:-

(i)           The fees payable for sample of food articles analysed for the purpose of   Section12 of the Act shall be Rs.50/- for consumer organisation and Rs.100/-  per sample received from other consumers.

(ii)           The fees to be charged by the Public Analyst for samples of Food articles   received for analysis from private purchaser,Trader,Manufacturers and other State   and Central Government bodies and Public Sector undertakings etc.shall be   (minimum) Rs.300/- per sample to the maximum of Rs.500/- as decided by the Public   Analyst depending upon the work involved.

 5.The Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine is requested to send the fee enhancement proposal once in two years.

 6.This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its G.O.No.30738/H/2001-1.dated 8.5.2001.
